There are two ways to connect to a MUD - Connect, and QuickConnect. When you click on the tab on top, you'll see both options.
Connect
The normal Connect option is meant to be used if you regularly connect to a specific MUD. In there you can create a profile by clicking on the New Profile button.
To setup a new profile, you need to fill out several things for it. In the Profile name line, you select how would you want to name the profile - usually the name of your MUD. Next, you need to fill in the Server field - otherwise known as host, and it's Port. This information can be found on the website of your MUD.
Optionally, you can also write your character's name in the Login name and the password in the field below it if you want to use KMuddy's auto-login feature. If you don't want to use it, then leave those two fields blank, and clear the Connect sequence field.
The main difference between the Connect and the QuickConnect features is that you have the option of using Profiles with Connect - in them, you can define your own aliases, triggers, and much more. However, if you don't need to do any of that and just want to connect to a MUD for testing purposes, then the QuickConnect feature would be better to use.
QuickConnect
The QuickConnect feature allows you to quickly connect to a MUD, if you just want to look around and such. Many features are not available for this type of connection, because you aren't in any specific profile and thus settings aren't saved after you close the QuickConnect session. Simply fill in the server name and port, and there you go!
Note: If you use a proxy, KMuddy will detect it from the KDE settings and automatically use it.
KMuddy also supports an offline mode, allowing you to edit your settings while not connected. Simply checkmark the "Offline editing" option when opening a profile to use it.
