Perhaps it is a bug, or perhaps I'm too new to all of this to understand how to properly handle this, but either way... I'm having issues with Importing/Exporting profiles.

My initial goal was to copy internal aliases, triggers, and variables etc from one profile to another. When I found that I couldn't manage that, I tried to export the entire profile. This, however, proved to be more confusing than I had expected. When I click export, it brings up a box with "Profile name" and "Export to" fields. I choose the profile I want to export under "Profile name" and then click browse to assign something to the "Export to" field. I then browse to an arbitrary folder I created to store the file, and since it doesn't designate any particular file extension I should be using, I've tried various extensions in hopes that one would work... however, even though it says "Saved successfully" when I finish, no file is ever saved to my folder.

I'm so hopelessly lost. If anyone can show me how to properly copy internal aliases, triggers, and variables from one profile to another... or perhaps tell me this IS a bug, I'd be extremely grateful.

Thank you,
-Enochuout

Ok... I just tried this, and I'm having the same issue. If it helps any, I compiled from the pre-relase snapshot that was mentioned on the boards as working and having the mapper built into it.

Can anyone else out there offer any advice? I just recently converted to linux, and KMuddy looks to be the most promising replacement for my old MUD client, zMud... However, if I can't copy internal aliases, triggers, variables etc from one profile to another, I'm afraid I may have to find another client. Please, anyone?

Sorry for the late reply :)

On Ubuntu, profiles for me are stored in "/home/vadi/.kde/share/apps/kmuddy/profiles". The profile names are just the names of the folders they're stored in. So to make a copy of a profile, just make a copy of the folder.

From one to another it's a bit more trickier - atm I guess the 'easiest' way is to keep two kmuddy's open and to copy from one to another. The new system for aliases/triggers and such that Mecir is making should make this easier in the future though.

Hmm, looks like profile exporting is broken. Sigh.

Anyway, like Vadi said, profiles are in your home directory, in .kde/share/apps/kmuddy/profiles and to copy them over from one profile to another, simply copy over the files from one profile to another - do -not- copy the "preferences" file though, that one stores server name, password and the like.

I greatly appreciate your responses, Vadi and Mecir. I wouldn't call them late by any means. I've been involved with communities that would even consider a response in under a week "unnecessary." So again, thank you. I'll look into your suggestions and see if I can't get it working as I had hoped.

On another note, thank you Mecir, and all the others that have worked on KMuddy, for authoring such a great tool. Like I said in my previous post, KMuddy looks to be the most promising replacement for my old MUD client, zMud. I held zMud with high respect as a company, and it seems my views of you here at KMuddy are going to be similar. I'm looking forward to breaking a lot more for you to fix.  ^_^

Thank you,
